Resolved Question: does anyone else think the feminist movement has gone far enough? and is annoying?

I am a girl. but I still think the feminist movement is getting nice of annoying. For example I do not look what feminists have against beauty pageants. I will never be in one but I dont think it objectifies women at every. If people want to be in it, then let them. Why do feminists have to bash beauty pageants? Is it because they will never be in one and they're jealous? I just find it ridiculous. Also I find it unhappy that a lot of opportunities in highschool are restricted only to female students. eg) some science awards and scholarships are for women only. I don't think it needs to be restricted only to women. In a way I feel as if it's saying that if it was open to women and men, women would not be able to receive the award. i dont think there's anything wrong with a show that judges people based on looks. If participants want to dress up and like the pageant they can. I don't watch pageants because I find them boring but I think women should have the choice of whether or not they want to be in a pageant without other people making them feel bad for wanting to be in a pageant. Especially other women telling them they (the women in pageants) are being objectified and going against everything women suffrages have fought for. heres the video i watched about feminism. However I dont think this should apply to spend public merit scholarships which I am referring to. and it's not just scholarships, its opportunities (eg. to intern in a lab). and there are many other things that are only open to females. For example there used to be male only gyms but now there are unisex gyms as well as only female gyms. and many other things only for female. i meant as in most things are open to either genders. sport, merit scholarships same. Which I think is the way it should be. there are however several scholarships and opportunities that are only open to females (available in my community anyways) I have better things to do than sit at home researching feminist movements. And replying rudely and not answering the question some random girl who is apparently unintelligent posted on yahooanswers. And no I dont believe in scholarships just to receive women into science. Women can receive into science without the aid of more scholarships. If they don't want to go into science because it makes them "unfeminine" they can suck it and there's plenty of other people who will go into science without incentives from scholarships (like myself). In addition I do not believe in grants to blacks/aboriginals. Unless they have a lower IQ than Asians and Caucasians, they should not receive more government incentives. One might argue that typically they have lower income families, but many Caucasian/Asian families are not wealthy either and receive no monetary incentive based on their race.

am in ninth grade and its a pursausive essay to my parents that we have to write for class thanks! Mom and Dad do you not want the best for your kid, especially your only daughter? You two are the most amazing parents any daughter can ask for. Mom and Dad you are there for me every the time, you have taught me so much, and you have always let me shoot for my dreams. Do you remember two years ago when I had to build portfolio for National American Miss and U.S Continental Pageant? I was so glad ecstatic to have my pictures taken and have them looked at by other people besides my family. This is when I decided that I want to build a modeling portfolio and eventually become a model. You know how I will always do what you ask me and more, so I am going to ask you for something. Mom and Dad I want to finish building my modeling portfolio. The first reason I should finish building my modeling portfolio, mom and dad is it will give me opportunities. The nice of opportunities any parent would be proud of her daughter for. One of the chances I might be able to take if you pick for me to continue making a modeling portfolio is getting signed with an agency (Elite, Utah Model Management, etc... ). If I do not receive signed by the modeling agency I want at least I will receive noticed which is another opportunity. Lite Focus Professional studios said "Two things are required: 1) A portfolio 2) Getting your portfolio noticed." Getting noticed is a very big opportunity cause it opens many doors like getting signed and becoming a model. A modeling portfolio and opportunities go hand-in-hand like when you give a mechanic the tools he needs the opportunities are how he will learn to fix a car. That concept is the same with modeling, you give the model a modeling portfolio and the opportunities will make her a model. I know Mom and Dad you may think it will offer bad opportunities along with the great opportunities. Yes, it is true, building a modeling portfolio might give me so not-so-great opportunities but I know how to say no and take into consideration how a choice can affect my future. Because you have taught me well I can say the best opportunities will be the only opportunities I will take after making a modeling portfolio. Mom and Dad my first reason I should build a modeling portfolio is it will open so many doors for me. The second reason I should build a modeling portfolio, Mom and Dad is it will open a door for me to reach for one of my dreams. Just like being in a beauty pageant was one of my dreams that I had a chance to touch I also have many other dreams. If you did not know I have wanted to be a model for a while and creating a modeling portfolio will make that dream so much easier. When you were a kid did you have a dream? Of course, everyone has something they want to do one day, but the question I should ask is were given' the chance to reach for them? I learned Mom and Dad, you never had the chance to reach for your dreams do you want your daughter to not have a chance to reach for her dreams like you did? Knowing the great parents you are you do not want any of your kids not to at least try something they really want to do. Reaching for your dreams is like eating the delicious thanksgiving dinner, satisfying and a person needs to try it at least once. I can also look from you side, Mom and dad you might say my dream is to expensive. That is true, it might be a little expensive but it will pay off. If I receive signed because I made a modeling portfolio I wont have to ask for money every the time, and most photographers will do an exchange for pictures. Mom and dad my second reason for you to let me build a modeling portfolio is it will let me reach for my dream of being a model. The last reason I should build my modeling portfolio is it will help me with my future. Saying that, Mom and Dad, I will tell you why it will improve my future, the first reason is with a modeling portfolio it will open the door to modeling which I will receive paid for modeling I will do that will help pay for my schooling so I can succeed in the field I want. A classic example of this is when a student has money to make his or her way through schooling there is a higher chance they will graduate with the degree they want. This applies with me wanting to build a modeling portfolio, because I will have enough money to help me make my way through schooling and graduate college. A modeling portfolio and making money to go through school, is like every player on a football team helping to win the biggest football game of their lives. With no modeling portfolio there will be no money which will make it harder to make my way through college just like if no football player helped win a game there will be no chance for them to receive a victory. beauty pageant (of sorts)? I know, as a lady, that what Tiger Woods did is so outrageous that I would be so surprised if his wife truly does stay with him. But, I don't believe for one minute that the women who had affairs with him didn't know he was married. Unless they have been living in a convent for the past several years! I figure if they didn't know it was because they were too busy working the streets for a living! They are trying to gift themselves as "victims". Give me a break!! If they really didn't know, they wouldn't be every over the t.v., talking about it. That said, Tiger is responsible for his behavior. BUT, I feel like it is between him and his wife. I don't want to hear the gorey details. I don't blame some of his business partners for pulling away from him, but other than that, the American public, or the world public does not need to know every little salacious detail. Why would you want to fill your mind with that sort of thing? Let's just back off and let his wife have time to decide for herself if she wants to try to make the marriage work.

My daughter is new to this "pageant world" and will be attending her very first pageant sometime this year! :D But... I don't want any "ordinary" or "plain" swim suit for the swimwear section of the pageant. Resolved Question: Why are all Pharmaceutical Company Representatives all always so good looking?

I know you have every seen those impeccably dressed, very nice looking men or women walk through your doctor's waiting room and go straight to the back. I have never seen one of these professionals that did not look like a movie star or a male model or a beauty pageant winner. Now, I am not of simple mind that places too much emphasis on looks.......normally I would not notice.....but in the pharmaceutical company rep that visit doctors offices category..It is soo very obvious and pronounced....it stands out to even me. I am not posting to debate are they good looking people or are they not...It is too pronounced and noticeable. I am not even saying that I have never seen an ugly rep.....I am saying that I have never even seen a normal looking rep!!! Every single one I have ever seen is straight out of the pages of cosmo or GQ... The answer I am looking for is to address why is this so pronounced in THIS industry... Hollywood models I can understand why this is a requirement......fashion models I can understand ...But drug company reps? WTF? What is the connection between looks and pills? Models need to have good physique so the clothes will fit on them and hang well.. Basketball player need to be tall to reach the basket. I look the connection in other areas but not in this one. Some people somewhere have consciously decided that pharmaceutical representatives/field sales people must be fashion model uncommonly good looking and also impeccably dressed...and I don't mean just Sunday goin' to meetin' clothes...we are talking $1400 Armani suits and sh** here...we are talking Philadelphia lawyer here.. WHY IS THIS? I imagine every sales person may have an edge with a charming grin...but I just have never seen any personnel department of such a distinct tiny sector of the workforce seem to place such an unusually strong importance on looks...they are also well educated etc.. So I am overweight (obese actually) and I got an invitation for a beauty pageant from the National American Miss. It said "this is the pageant for today's girl which is why we don't include a swimsuit competition..." I thought it meant that they were for girls overweight like me. Hi, i wish people don't mind me using this section to ask this question, it's just that it's answers from this cross section of people i am looking for! Resolved Question: How do I end this 'friendship'?

Over the 2009 summer, I was forced to move to Virginia. Now I'm spending my senior year in a school I'm not familiar with, with people who don't understand that I like being alone. For example, at. My old school, people understood that I liked to chat and joke in class, but outside of it, I preferto be alone. These people do NOT comprehend this, and there's no place to go on campus to giveme my seperation time (I am VERY introverted). I could stand every this if it weren't for this one girl. From day one, she wouldn't cease bugging me. She thinks of me as her best pal, though I want her to leave me alone. I thought she would receive the hint when I constantly told her how busy I was, but she won't give up. I receive really embarrassed when it comes to confrontation, so sometimes I just give in. It's now February and I STILL can't stand her. How do I receive her to leave me alone? Here's what bothers me the most: She seems really popular, but she only hangs with me She's a beauty pageant queen, so she's obsessed with being skinny. There's not one day she won't say "ugh, I'm so fat. Anything over a size 5 is fat." Note: i'm a size 12. She knows this and saysit anyways. She gets mad when anyone calls her on her cheating on her once fiancé and boyfriends I'm pretty sure she only talks to me bc I'm a light skinned black girl (she says things that lift brows and give that Impression. Also will always take a chance to touch my hair. This only happens to me with black girls). She's so NEEDY. It gets to the point where she'll ask me a question just so she can turn the conversation to her. I have had to engage in hour long talks about every her good points. And she does that obnoxious, not to mention childish, thing where she says "oh, I'm so bad/ugly/stupid" so everyone will jump in and say otherwise. She keeps asking about my grades when I say I don't feel comfy telling. Shoves hers in my face anyways laughs at her possess jokes  She also wears shirts that allow wardrobe malefunctions and keeps getting more intricate tramp stamps. Maybe i'm judgemental, but she's an attention who re. She needs me to constantly feed her ego. Ihave to sit next to her for two hours every other day (damn Virginia schooling), so I want to receive away from her without awkwardness. Is it possible?

Voting Question: Can someone tell me why woman in beauty Pageants have to wear 30lbs of makeup?

Something I never understood is why lady in beauty pageants wear so much makeup? Also why is it Miss Universe always seems to be from Earth? Also why do models spend so much time putting on makeup before they can be seen in public? When People Magazine arrive out every November with The worlds sexiest person alive, are they trying to to tell me they traveled the whole planet and looked at everyone and have personally picked out a handful of people WHO just happen to be from Hollywood? I have traveled to Costa Rica, Panama Belize. The lady there would make lady like Jessica Simpson look like toliet S$@@ and they have morals they also dont treat people like Crap just because they are not as sexy. They dont wear makeup because they dont need it.
